Feast Flick

A few days back the UCG Feast video was posted here, today it's LCG's turn. Below you can view the first ten minutes. After a blah blah introduction by Richard Ames there's a notable change of pace - the sort of thing you'd expect from the Mormon church as they relate the myth of Kobol with a straight face. There's a cheesy voice-over as planet Earth hoves into view, the church eras get ticked off until, ta-dah, Herb dies and the LCG triumphantly succeeds it... or should that be secedes from it?

Despite the bells and whistles this is reminiscent of Scientology on a budget.

The whole series - for those with far too much time on their hands and iron-clad constitutions - is online over at the Shadows of WCG blog.

Church history is easy to understand.

First we have Adam and Eve...driven from the Garden,

Noah was saved and spawned the nations.

Being in a nation, Abraham left his and went to someone elses.

He was great.

He had great kids who became nations.

The Jewish nation mucked it all up and the Messiah needed to return to fix it.

Jesus was that Messiah but they mucked up who he was.

Jesus died and left 12 behind who disappeared.

Paul showed up and wrote the script. The Jews were mucked up more than we thought.

The True Church was born.

The true church fled or was driven out.

Lots of true leaders preserved the true truth.

Herbert Armstrong caught on to them and was the end time Elijah.

Scoffers showed up for several reasons and the true church assumed many forms, all true.

Bob Thiel rose up and sorted them out.

He spotted the UCG, true church video.

He said "sadly and of course, no way, but way cool idea."

God agreed and inspired the LCG video.

And Dave Pack said,"Not so fast there..... just you wait to see my overarching, amazing, incredible, fantastic, mind boggling, nothing ever quite like it before brethen, version."

And Big Bird, now well advanced in years, grew hopeful he might , yet again, be called to preach the Gospel...

And I looked and saw just one set of footprints in the sand....

And I knew God had gone back to the pool for a swim...They were on their own.

LCG isn't as stuck in the 1980s as some may assume. For example, they now teach that it's OK for members and ministers to support political candidates, even to make donations to them.

Notice this August 2008 campaign contribution by LCG elder and Living University President Dr. Michael Germano:

Contribution to John McCain by LCG elder Michael Germano

FEC Report Showing Germano Contribution

Under HWA, this would never have been allowed. Now, a minister and senior LCG leader can openly support and donate to a political candidate. Maybe that's one reason why Dr. Thiel is so keen on attacking Barack Obama, and never made similar attacks on John McCain?

Wow! What amazing progress in 50 years! Who knows if the next 50 might not introduce ideas such as evolution of all life, Bible errancy, Ok British Israel was the same as Mormon Israelites, and "ok, we goofed, Jesus is not coming back 'soon'"

If it took the Catholic Church 400 years to apologize for harassing Galileo, and admitting to the validity of evolution, I'd say it might take 4000 for any COG to say, "well we got it wrong."

But 4000 is better than 10,000.

More of the propaganda that ol' Herbie spewede! Talk about a self absorbed group especially at the end of this garbage. Why is it that these leaders preach about "God" but put themselves in 'his' place!?!? If you need some other man to help 'find' "God" then you more than likely are doomed to "THEIR" salvation!!!!!!

The Living Church video went slightly farther than the UCG video, mentioning church eras, but there was still no mention of HWA being "the Elijah who was to come and restore all things."

The GCG peaked at about 7,000 in attendance. Then it split with about 2,000 people going spiritually bankrupt in the financially bankrupt GCG. RCM went on with about 5,000 people to form what he called the Living Church (to distinguish it from the dead Global Church).

Lately, RCM's LCG has been building up to almost 7,000 in attendance again. The problem is that RCM is about 78 years old, has had a stroke recently, and now is likely to have another one within two years.

Combine that with the little matter that David Pack brought up about RCM being under a "double curse" for "perverting the gospel" and the LCG might not be able to break the old attendance record.

When RCM dies, the LCG leaders that he will leave behind are simply not a great bunch of guys.

The anonymous claiming Spanky's sect isn't stuck in the '80s (the empire never ended, and the LCG is still in a parallel timeline of alternate history, anonymous), posted this exact same comment over at Shadows.

So either it's an LCG apologist, an LCG ministurd, or it's none other than Bobboleh Thiel himself, come to "grace" us with his "wit" and "wisdom".........

Cant tell, but are the "Adam and Eve" figures shown on the video at 3:41 nude or not??

Either way, the "Eve" gal model has a great figure!

This is certainly the best behind the work video I have seen to date. I thoroghly enjoyed it.

Then the True Church realized that Jesus was not coming back and gave birth to the money hungry apostasy.

Since then everything has been for sale (cheap at twice the price); pieces of the original cross, absolution, salvation, statues of Mary, statues of Jesus, pictures of Mary, pictures of Jesus, bibles, etc. etc.

It's hard to believe that a money making deal like that could have gotten away from the Jews.

Anyway, here we are today, 2,000 years later and folks are still stupid enough to believe Jesus is coming back (soon).

Reckon that mocking makes these the "last days"? Well, the mockers 2,000 years ago turned out to be right and those weren't the last days then either.

What we have now is millions of poor dumb gullible people that still believe that people lived 900 years longer than we do today back at "the beginning".

The RCG has a new one out too.

Digital video makes everyone able to have a Feast Film. I'm just waiting for the new Young Ambassadors. I do so miss Big Beak and I'm wondering who'll replace him. Didn't he retire recently?

This video is hilarious! Was it meant to be a comedy?

Corky! are you back at it again. I thought we covered this once before. Let's try again.

There will be Corkies in the last days, probably led by the Corky of the power of the air who is sad because he cannot ascend to the heavens and be the most high.

When its all said and done, will you have staked your claim on Corky and his father, the father of all lies? Have we gotten to the root of this matter yet?

In the beginning, there was God and He made man and woman then there was the Worldwide Church of supposed God and they were more cunning than any beast of the field. When will this occultism nonsense stop? I could hardly make it through that insane brainwashing film. If God called the Worldwide Church and its offspring to preach the gospel then they have failed miserably. I know God has done a much better job spreading the gospel with other Christians and Christian organizations that do not look at themselves as elite. Thank God, God is in control.

In addition to not mentioning HWA as the end time Elijah, LCG also makes no reference to "Mystery of the Ages" in its infomercial. Still smarting from his exile to Hawaii, RCM must still feel the book is filled with errors.

When I viewed this video I couldn't help but think of Galileo before the Catholic authorities.

The beginning of the LCG Feast film is a high-tech, MODERN version of a very OLD myth that mankind loves to perpetuate about itself: "WE are the center of the universe! The universe was made for US! Aren't WE special!"

But science has slowly been discovering just the exact opposite: we are infinitesimally small little life forms which occupy a tiny planet, circling around a typical star, located in the backwater of an average galaxy against the backdrop of a mind-bogglingly massive universe.

How do we know other much more highly developed civilizations of sentient life forms like ourselves don’t exist somewhere else in the universe?

Recently the first planet not in our solar system has actually been detected and literally photographed by high tech instrumentation, rather than merely being inferred as a result of it’s stars “doppler planetary wobble” due to the planet’s gravitational pull on it. It was covered on CNN last week, and caused quiet a stir among astronomers.

The uniqueness of our planet, and its placement in the cosmos which permits mankind to observe its many wonders, is well documented in the film "The Privileged Planet". Its worth the time to view it.

Anonymous 4:43, I've not seen this particular film (The Priviledged Planet) but I promise you I'll get a copy and view it.

It sounds like something put out by either the Discovery Institute or Hugh Ross' Reasons to Believe organization.

I am familiar with such arguments that are presented by both these groups (and other similar groups) as I've met and discussed issues with representatives from both - and I can tell you from direct experience that they (purposely?) overlook and fail to address several facts of science that counter and seriously weaken their conclusions.

One must be very careful to always give "the other side" a reason to respond to claims such as the kind these organizations regularly make. "The other side" in this case is Dr. Victor Stenger's book HAS SCIENCE FOUND GOD?, which addresses a lot of the so-called "fine-tuning" arguments.

Are you familiar with any of the counter-arguments to "Intelligent Design" and "fine-tuning" assertions?

You really should be if you are regulary recommending films like the above one - which I'll view.

Augh! Nice of you to link the video, Gavin, but once is enough for me.

-- LCG isn't as stuck in the 1980s as some may assume. For example, they now teach that it's OK for members and ministers to support political candidates, even to make donations to them... Now, a minister and senior LCG leader can openly support and donate to a political candidate. --

I haven't heard it in any videos or live sermons. The fact that Germano gave a political contribution doesn't mean the ordinary members have been told it's okay to do it. We've been told no such thing. In fact, it's not even common knowledge that Germano donated. You're the first person to tell me, so I can't exactly agree that he was "openly" supporting a political candidate -- at least, not right in front of the eyes of the LCG masses.

But it might explain why there were so many "I'm not endorsing any political candidate by this comment" jokes from the pulpit this Feast...

-- Cant tell, but are the "Adam and Eve" figures shown on the video at 3:41 nude or not?? --

Nope. If you look closely, "Adam" is wearing swim trunks.

-- In addition to not mentioning HWA as the end time Elijah... --

At least one or two LCG evangelists have stated this from the pulpit: The Two Witnesses are going to perform miracles similar to those done by Moses (plagues) and Elijah (fire from heaven). In the Good Ol' Days, we thought it was obvious that HWA would be one of the Two Witnesses, so we connected Revelation with Malachi and said HWA was the Elijah to come. (GTA was going to be the Moses to come until... you know...)

But as it turns out, HWA isn't one of the Two Witnesses after all. Therefore he cannot be the Elijah. QED.

Libro

(Took me forever to learn what "QED" means. Nobody uses it anymore...)

What? They go through and list all the church eras, and they stopped at Philadelphia? My Bible has one more church...

Anonymous said...

Yeah, they skipped out on the last church era mentioned in the Bible. A few people noticed but for the most part everyone is just glad to be one of the Philadelphia remnants.
