Dear Ron

The Day of Pentecost has fully come - at least here in New Zealand where its getting toward 10AM already. This is your day too! If nothing happens you're going to quit preaching. That's what you've said repeatedly.

Then later you've promised to publicly state that you were wrong about your predictions and become the first false prophet in history to confess to that fact.

What you don't say is whether you'll still stay on your own payroll. Funny that!

Ron, let me confess something too: I don't believe you. I think you'll find a way to weasel out. Perhaps a couple of the sycophants will beg you to stay, and, after due soul-searching you'll selflessly agree.

And I'm also of the opinion that, in the unlikely event that you did depart (clutching a golden handshake?) you'd be back again quicker than Garner Ted from his hunting cabin in 1973.

On the other hand, I want you to know that I don't really consider you so much false prophet as a doofus. Real false prophets are either much more effective or a darn sight more subtle.

Have a nice day. Should be an interesting sermon opportunity! Will look forward to the resignation.

Let's make a deal.

Just how could we raise Uncle Ron to that lofty position of false prophet?

While it can be argued that Real false prophets are either much more effective or a darn sight more subtle, my standards are much lower. Just where does this entitlement of the House of Lords come from? I thought we were all from the House of Commons, unless we attended AC. Who are we to judge?

Could we agree to some minimum qualifications? After all, if someone who is religious, makes predictions that don't come true, and claims that he got the Revelation of these fallen predictions from God, how can we not declare the man is a false prophet?

Just what does it take?

Inquiring minds want to know....

Gavin said...

Douglas, to you he can still be a false prophet. As you say, he undoubtedly fits the job specifications. (I'm sure he'd want to flatter himself with capital letters - False Prophet).

OTOH I'd prefer to think of Ron in less sacerdotal terms: just another deluded, ego-driven drongo.

;-)

I do not want anyone to think at all that there are any divisions between us. I am perfectly fine not capitalizing false profit.

And in fact, I am more than happy to adopt "deluded, ego-driven drongo". I am always looking to expand my wider understanding of International Culture. Thanks for the clarification and a new vocabulary word [which, technically increases my standing to the 101% vocabulary level, though it's doubtful that any valid professionally recognized test would support such a proposition at this time].

Maybe we need a new Sanhedrin, in charge of judging prophets.

Or even better, an unbiased outside "judge" who can address such things bluntly.

We have several people in the U.S. who could do this. Dr. Laura and Judge Judy come to mind.

Anonymous said...

Frankly Richard, it seems more psychological to me.

Maybe Dr. Phil.

But that's sort of a double-edged sword, isn't it?

Sure! Here I am!

My humble expert opinion is that Ronald Weinland the clown IS indeed a lying false prophet.

Gavin,

Do not get wishy washy in your old age. The fact that Ron dresses funny does not make him any less dangerous to those suckers who listen to him. Nothing but evil will ever come from that scammer. He will make the way of truth look like the way of utter nonsense.

Happy Pentecost or Shavout to all those observing the season!

Pentecost is the day of the resurrection, the firstfuits of the harvest, according to Fred Coulter's latest sermon.

Fred Coulter makes one interesting observation.

Revelation 15:2 :"And I saw something like a sea of glass mingled with fire, and THOSE WHO HAVE THE VICTORY OVER THE BEAST, OVER HIS IMAGE AND OVER HIS MARK AND OVER THE NUMBER OF HIS NAME STANDING ON THE SEA OF GLASS, having harps of God."

The saints are resurrected to the sea of glass BEFORE the FINAL last SEVEN plagues to hit the earth.

Following on from the sea of glass, the angel comes out of the Temple with the last seven plagues (verse 6).

Trumpets then, represents the last seven plagues to finally hit the earth before the end of mankind's rule.

The saints then will witness the last seven plagues hitting the earth. Perhaps this is when the marriage takes place on the sea of glass.

In my mind I am still uncertain if Jesus actually now returns BEFORE or after the seven plagues.

>>>Happy Pentecost or Shavout to all those observing the season!<<<

I would like to echo Robert's wishes to all those who will be observing Pentecost today.

The Holy Days have deeper meaning than most of us ever appreciated when we were together in WCG. And on reflection, that is not surprising, as most of the men appointed ministers to teach "The Meaning Of The Day" didn't know what they were talking about. For a hireling cannot understand or undertake the work of a shepherd.

Anyway, I am currently a writing article on the Holy Days and a small piece for my blog on the meaning of Pentecost, which will be posted a little later today, as those who command me to go a mile with them, in obedience to Jesus, I tend to go two.

But to give you something to ponder, Pentecost is a mirror image of The Last Great Day. That is why Jesus stood up on the Last Great Day of the Feast and cried: "If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink"(John 7:37). And John added: "(But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: fo the Holy Spirit was not yet given; because Jesus was not yet glorified.)" But after Jesus was glorified, the Holy Spirit of truth was given to God's elect on the day of Pentecost.

The Last Great Day and Pentecost, which is a mirror image of each other, is a period of judgment, when God began to make manifest on whom he will have mercy and whom he will condemn.

So for God's elect, today is a day of great rejoicing, but, sadly, for Ron Wieland and his fellow hirelings, today is a day of terror!

WW>>>Now if that isn't rewriting Armstrongist theology to suit oneself, I don't know what is.<<<

Well, I am not sure what Armstrong theology really is, but the theology of bible, which explains the meaning of the Holy Days is as follows:

1)Trumpets, the first advent of Christ

2)Passover mirrors Atonement

3)The days of Unleavened mirrors the Feast of Tabernacles

4)Pentecost mirrors the Last Gt Day, and

5)Trumpets mirrors itself by the second coming of Christ.

These are the bare bones on which we must add the meat of the word.

And out of the North, South of Dayton but North of Lexington, shall come one who whines.

Even from Whineland shall he come.

One of two shall he claim to be and for two shall he speak as the other sprung from the rib of man and is nothing much.

A silent rib shall she be.

And behold...Thunders shall whisper and Trumpets shall turn to kazoos when the days of his prophecies shall fail.

"Spiritual" shall he call the thunders that whisper and truly truly, shall he scorn those who words into his mouth do put.

Amazing shall he find people and really amazing shall it be to him brethren.

But on the Day counted by 50 shall his end come. For flowers shall flourish and the creatures of God shall yet prosper. Nothing obvious shall be of the thunders that whisper

And his end shall come quickly in a way slow as men count quickness. (Or shall his end come slowly in quickness as God counts quick, I forget.)

Sheep shorn shall scatter and the Whiners books shall they cast down. Gullibles Travel's more like, shall seem to them a nightmare. Yet then shall the rib, silent betimes, speak...

"Have I not said include me not in thine absurdities. But ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh noooooo, myself have you said must be your second for the Lord doth work in pairs well known to each other."

And the sound of whining shall be heard in all the land of Whineland. And the flim called flam shall be up.

And that which was insane shall become sane again, and that which seemed sane to some shall seem quite insane to all. Know what I'm sane?

Truly truly shall it be declared with amazement, it really shall.

And the sound of feet stepping down shall be heard throughtout all the land of Whineland. Yeah, even unto the ends of the earth.

And the Lord churtled to himself and spoke. "Me..save me from my followers.." And all the Angels of heaven roared together in peels of frivolity and alacrity.

Thus shall the Thunders that Whisper fade from the minds of men and quickly in a way that seems slow. And from where the sun now stands, shall he who speaks for the rib fade, in a whisper of thunders shall he fade.

Though some shall doubt....

Well, David Pack is probably right about rotten Ronald Weinland being demon influenced. Just one of those self-evident things. Either that or else chemical imbalances in the brain.

Alas, overly ripe Ron can simply claim that he tried to resign but that God "showed him" that his resignation was not accepted, and that he was to continue to collect money from any stupid people he could find.

How will God "show him" this, you ask? Why, in the same way that God "showed him" that he was a prophet, and in the same way that God "showed him" all the lies and nonsense in his two books. That is, by simply saying and doing nothing and letting Ron do all the talking and lying on his own.

Between Fred Coulter and Bill Dankenbring, I"m sure we could find a way to find that Pentecost has not yet come because counting 50 depends on what "is" is. Accordiing to Bill, no one has got Passover right yet except him.

Or perhaps we have the literal Pentecost, which just passed and the deeper more spiritual type ("it's spiiiritual brethren",) would allow us to count 50 each day for a year beginning with Ron Weinland's first ordination in WCG.

See , it ain't over! It's just begun.

If you read the OT account, the large unleavened loaf was waved (lifted) on the Sabbath during UB ... the same day that Christ was ressurected. That being said, the two smaller leavened loaves represent the firstfruits, which are lifted 50 days later: Pentecost.

I would imagine that what will happen will go something like this: eventually, Ron Weinland will make a statement that since "the church" is growing, God has extended the time to allow the lost sheep to come back to the fold. This is because of His great mercy and patience. However, Ron will state that since God's plan has been put on hold, his mission also has been put on hold. Tommy...

How would you feel if you knew the origins of "and God rested on the Sabbath day" was a Jewish reversal of a Mesopotamian Flood tale?

A pagan tale where the original gods got to rest after destroying their "plains of Edin" (Eden) worker slaves, who made too much clamour and kept the gods awake?

To solve this they destroyed man with a flood and were able to rest on the seventh day of that flood.

Before the reversal story for the reasons for the flood and the origin of the Sabbath in Genesis were written....

ALL THE GODS RESTED ON THE SEVENTH DAY of the Shuruppak (Mesopotamian) Flood because man who had disturbed their rest with his "clamor" had been annihilated by the flood waters and the resulting SILENCE allowed them to REST by day and SLEEP by night.

"...the Flood tradition has undergone a qualitative change since being removed from Mesopotamia. That the Old Testament contains mythological elements and that it preserved some legendary stories which originated in Mesopotamia or in other cultures of the ancient Near East is to be expected. What is surprising is the degree to which these myths and legends have been transformed by the ancient Israelite conviction..."

(William H. Stiebing, Jr. "A Futile Quest, The Search for Noah's Ark.)

Just think, you enjoy your weekly rest from toil, be it a Friday (Moslems), Saturday (Jews) or Sunday (Christians) because of a Mesopotamian myth about gods resting on a seventh day after destroying man and the world in a flood in order to obtain their rest...THEIR SHABBAT OR SABBATH.

It's all pagan baby.....

Tom, I spend a great deal of time in self-reflection, however I have to repeat to you once again that you cannot compare the effecet of teaching armstrong's delusion to children (I think we all know what that entails) to the temporary but fun stories, traditions, and myths surrounding Christmas, Easter, Tooth Fairy, and the Tickle Monster. You can continue to label it deception if you like, but you are not being intellectually honest.

BTW: I did not "Revert" to keeping these pagan festivals since I was born into the wcg. I kept Christmas for the first time in 1995. Oh, and my children do endure them, with much pleasure.

One more thing - You may want to look further into the origins of much of what you believe...Using something other than the bible. You will get quite a shock.

In my opinion, I think Ron and his wife, Laura, are sincere.

And I agree wholeheartedly. This is what being god haunted in a view of the scriptures and reading the Bible and especially Revelation like a newspaper can do.

It goes way back before Armstrong. It goes to the switch from allegory and metaphor and a literalism that was never intended in the writing.

It's also the result of NT writers badly reading into the OT that which is not there, to tell their view of everything from who they thought Jesus was to when will the end come and what will happen to us all?

Ron Weinland, Dave Pack, Gerald Flurry, Rod Meredith and millions like them have never learned that you cannot make a scripture mean what it never meant.

Some of these people have not even learned the Bible does not contain their name or a specific job for them with their name on it.

That's a mental disorder.

Dave Pack? I'm not sure if he is totally sincere or it has fast become an family enterprise. Everyone seems to end up with a good paycheck.

FALSE PROPHETS AND THE LAW OF GOD

Technically, all lying false prophets should be stoned to death. If only God's good laws were enforced today, for the protection, safety, and good of all innocent people! Then, only the wicked, lying false prophets would suffer. It would put a stop to all these godless bums always making up lies in God's name and always making off with other people's money (OPM).

There is no need to agonize over it or to wonder endlessly about whether the liars are "sincere" liars or whether they are tricky, malicious liars. The plain truth is simply that they are liars, and are greedily making off with the money, and do fully deserve to be stopped dead! Nobody should ever have their time, energy, and money wasted by lying false prophets!

Parents should teach their children not to lie, but to simply tell the truth. The COGs should also teach everyone not to lie, rather than producing so many "ministers" who cannot seem to do anything but lie and steal.

Enki loves Lillith,

There's too much genius in Genesis to wash it away with Mesopotamian flood tales. Dig into it and you'll see what I mean. Genius is an understatement.

Most cultures have flood myths. If Mesopotamians remembered the flood story as the origin of the Sabbath, created by gods, they must have descended from C students looking out a porthole while Noah explained the deluge -- again and again, and again.

Exodus looks back at Genesis like this: "U vayom hashvii, shavat vayinafash. And on the seventh day, He rested and was refreshed." He, not they, was refreshed, vayinafash -- on the same root as nephesh, applied to God here, Who in another place refers to His Presence as nafshi, my soul, personal possessive of nephesh. The Bible makes a lot more sense when it's not obscured in translation. It even wanders from AC theology now and then.

As for Lillith, you'd better watch your back. She was way too much for Adam. Good luck.
