And You Thought COG Ministers Were Nuts!

I shamelessly stole this clip from the N. T. Wrong blog (the name is a backhander to the inflated reputation of the excruciatingly irritating Bishop of Durham, N. T. Wright.) The speaker is Steven Anderson, pastor of Faithful Word Baptist Church in Phoenix (after viewing the video you might be tempted to suggest Steven renames his ministry Faithful Turd.)

Steven's qualifications? "Pastor Anderson holds no college degree but has well over 100 chapters of the Bible committed to memory, including almost half of the New Testament."

And in Spokesman Club this week, I'll be giving a special "instruct" speech before they persecute us by throwing us out of the hotel.

Well, clearly there is no need to fear those pesky "Assyrians" taking over any time soon - they're not even real men!!!

I am going to pee against the UCG wall of silence concerning spending tithe loot for salaries and shadey real estate transactions.

Who will first submit a doctrinal paper on urinary relief? I say RCM because he is a stand alone guy. It will take UCG six weeks of prayer, two GCE votes, an elders meeting then the frusterated tithe payers will tell the hirelings to **** it and get busy doing nothing again.

All COG ministers weren't nuts.
All Catholic Priests aren't perverts
All Baptist ministers aren't sincere but stupid
All Unitarian Ministers aren't New Age freaks.
All Rabbi's arent' short chubby men wearing yamika's
Eckhart Tolle is not a danger to the spirituality of the entire planet.
Oprah does not work for Satan
All critical thinkers aren't deluded
All sincere believers aren't stupid

Having soaked in ministry and that of the COG's for decades and being the only one who even ever showed up openly on AW, Painful Truth or any place else for that matter that I know of, no one knows the heart of a man better than the man.

The piously convicted yet marginally informed walking megaphone for Jesus has specifically labeled me a hireling, who lied and deceived my way through ministry for the money and the perks.

Mahone notes:

What about "not walking in craftiness?" Anyone who was around the ministry in WCG or in cog-land today could write a book on the "craftiness" of most ministers, including their deceitful misrepresentation of the word of God and their lying to the brethren, either by commission or omission. Their motto was and is, "We reveal things on a need to know basis, and we decide who needs to know." What deceitfulness!"

Mahon is full of shit.

Mahon notes:

What these men have failed to understand, is that it is the Holy Spirit that selects men to be ministers, and it is a job for life. One can't resign or walk away from the ministry. One must die in the service of God on behalf of his flock.

Sadly, Dennis and his fellow ministers never understood..."

And Mahon is full of shit. I understood and undertsand a lot more than you can possibly imagine.

One doesn't learn their spiritual views and how to view the Book or even an organization that says it represents the book only between the ages of 18 and 22.

"Jesus Christ, the same yesterday, today and forever" is not a formula for mental or theological stagnation. It was to WCG however.

You can outgrow foolishness however sincerely one hoped it was not so or how long it took to retool the mind.

Having come from a Presbyterian background, let me be clear at least once as a former minister.

I believed with all my heart that WCG was as close to what the Bible meant as one could find and I had to be there.

I was intrigued by the Armstrongs, but took them with a grain of salt on many matters and didn't pass along a lot of dumbass opinions to local congregations. I never gave a rats ass about women and makeup and never told one human being to only be anointed or die.

Rod Meredith was always amusing in his zeal and you always knew when he was full of BS and when sincere.

Ted was a famous inner child that never found out who he really was.

Dave Pack, from his youth, intimidated the hell out of everyone and all he is today, you could see coming then.

I have issues with the life of the Apostle Paul as presented, precisely because he so resembles these kinds of men in ministry.

When a man is called an Apostle 24 times in the NT and by himself 22 of them and twice by his close friend Luke, it should give us pause.

When "all Asia forsakes you," one should ask "I wonder why" and not "may it not be laid to their charge." Paul's thorn in the flesh was that he was deaf to anything he didn't think of.

Tom Mahon said:

"Apologies from former WCG ministers are not good enough to atone for the sins of lying to and betraying the people of God. In fact, according to the bible they are beyond repentance."

Did I mention Tom Mahon is full of shit?

Sorry for the length here. And yes, to save someone the trouble of commenting, it is a sensitive topic to me having been one and wishing I had followed other dreams and interests.

I'm gonna regret writing this :)

What a lying sack of crud!

How dare he denigrate the men of Germany, and our legacy.

Being a German on both sides of my family, I was so indignant and outraged by this preachers remarks about German men that I stood right up and "pee'd" on the computer screen right as he spoke!

He will be duly noted in "our" log book for "German Blasphemy" when we are marching down USA's mainstreets someday singing "When Hans Comes Marching Home Again - Hoo Rah , Hoo Rah"

LOL!

Bill Lussenheide, Menifee,CA USA

BTW- He has a very girly voice for somebody trying to come off so macho.

Dennis,

Don't worry about what Tom Mahon posts.

'...And Mahon is full of s***...'

Here in the UK this term is used by the low life and by those who don't care for clean language. It amazes me that so many on this blog who once, while in WCG, subscribed to Bible standards of behaviour and speech, appear to have sunk into what we used to call 'worldliness'.

This was not priggishness but an attempt to match our standards with the teachings of Jesus and, yes - Paul.

I find the blog helpful as a focus on what was wrong in WCG. Would it would stay that way.

and I always thought that verse was talking about men who lacked proper discretion and respect...

Where in the bible does it define a standard of speech? Chapter and verse where it says you can't say sh*#@! or even use the "f"-bomb?

.... when is Tom going to post a picture of himself?

Since he's commenting here again maybe he'll answer.

Dennis,

There is a certain kind of blindness that infects some of the types of people who were attracted to the doctrines of HWA. Unfortunately, it is all pervasive. It is no fun to be the brunt of this blindness, but it is not only inflicted upon folks with your specific experience, it is also inflicted upon anyone else who offers testimony against Armstrongitish error, whether the testimony be rooted in personal experience, or a better understanding of doctrine or scripture.

I always try to steel my mind against people whose minds have been pre-set and programmed, and in whose minds that programming has become both permanent and irrational, but the fact is that such people often know what buttons to push, and how to reach out and hurt others whose beliefs and understandings have become transcendent. It is sometimes difficult, but the best possible reaction is just to shake one's head, feel a Christlike compassion for those people, and not take what they have said so seriously. They are simply speaking out from their basic platform of limitations.

I personally hope, Dennis, that you never stop sharing. I may not always agree with you, but your experience and insights do shed good light, and promote understanding.

Those who pray should probably remember Tom, and others of similar mindset, in their prayers.

Of course Tom is posting here. I can't post at his site because he is so proper.

Since when is "Liar" "Deceiver" "lying to the brethren" "hireling" and a few other "this is how you really are including all your motives ever," not obscene?

Can't put my hands on it at the moment, but I have an OT reference by the prophets to the "pagan" "shit gods."

For every label of "psycho-babble" there is much we could call "theo-babble"

Tom can spew off any spiritual Bible reader garbage he wishes, but when you attach a name to it,One can respond personally.

And your right, I suspect Mr. Annon is none other than...If not, they are a disciple of Thomas. If it's Tom, then he's breaking his oft repeated mantra of "I don't talk to the annonymous types."

But then he has proven evasive when cornered to begin with.

Here in America, Tom's way of talking theology is used by the lowlife, tobacco chewing, cigarette smokin, undeducated, opinionated, fundamentalist, only Jesus loves me types.

Tom, you are one of the most offensively religious people I have ever encountered (iffin' you read this) and I have met tens of thousands. Don't think because you are so righteous, any God would claim you as the example, he or she was going for.

Go have a chat with El of the OT about Mal 2:3

"I'm going to punish your descendants. I'm going to spread excrement on your faces, the excrement from your festival sacrifices. You will be discarded with it."

I bet you like that one! It's about shit faced priests...

If you don't wish to ever hear from me, then don't connect my name to your stinking labels. I just might have to spread some waste on your face like God says in the Holy Book

On the topic of communication, certain words, etc: Many of the words which we consider to be gutter language are in fact Old English words. You can find "piss", "damn", and "hell" in scripture. These words can be used either in a constructive way, or in a vulgar or degrading way.

For anyone who might be interested, scripture does have something to say about this topic:
Eph 4:29-30 tells us:

"Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.

And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption"

I've been around the block, once majored in creative swearing, and even quoted the scriptures regarding pissing. But, anyone who believes the Bible does not have something to say on this topic is mistaken.

Perhaps I did mispeak. I shoulds speak Bible

You are full of excrement betimes
You are full of waste oft
You are full of dung in him
You are full of scatter upon world without end
You are full of refuse, even as the pagans are

You're bowels of tender mercy are empty

Don't ask me what the translator was going for with this one...

Phil 1:8
American King James Version
For God is my record, how greatly I long after you all in the bowels of Jesus Christ

PS See Tom. Byker Bob is genuinely a Christian. They talk like that. They think like that. The are like that.

BB has reaped spiritual things, you have only benefited from the carnal judgemental side of religion.

But God bless ya anyway you little sh.....:)

Sorry, I'm don't wish to be a hominid attacking. I don't accept your labeling. The rest is your problem.

Couple of thoughts:

1) God doesn't seem pleased in that Bible verse that a man "pisseth against the wall".

2) If you have to do #1 and #2 together, do you have to change positions?

3) Isaiah 36:12 talks about those who sit against the wall and eat, well, you know. What is THAT talking about?!

Honestly, though, I wouldn't be surprised if some XCG splinter group started rattling these verses for something. Maybe Ron Weinland?

Anonymous said...

so does "pisseth against the wall" mean standing or sitting? it's not clear from that verse.

Ezekiel blurted:

"And thou shalt eat it as barley cakes, and thou shalt bake it with dung that cometh out of man, in their sight. And the LORD said, Even thus shall the children of Israel eat their defiled bread among the Gentiles, whither I will drive them." (Ezekiel 4:12-13)

Makes ya think twice about Ezekiel bread doesn't it? Apologists say the dung was fuel, but far as I can tell, it's not easy lighting that stuff to bake with, leaving only one alternative.

Modern Ezekiel bread is not true to the recipe. No sh...I ain't kiddin.

This is yet another example of a preacher (Steven Anderson) who hasn't had any formal orthodox religious training (no college degree). Does this not sound like HWA? Both were able to convince people to follow them through their yelling and convicted tone.

I've now read all six references in the old KJ, and my advice to all men is... don't do it! It's positively dangerous - if you piss against the wall you are liable to be "cut off". Ouch!

Dennis,
Tom is an asshole. Yes indeed and his blog is a waste of energy. That is a good thing. Let Tom waste his energy writing his crap. Tom is venting. Tom wants back those wonderful days of Herbism back, even though he never was a member when the apostle of malpractice was practicing religion without a valid license! If Tom ever uses your name then sue the little grunt bastard! He was a shit head from day one here and will be a shit head and a little piss ant to the day he breathes his last. May God speed the day! However I might add that he does not have the clout or appeal to make his name known to the Arian Nation like old Ben! You know, the blond homosexual that got the boot out of Israel.....
To is a nobody. You Dennis are someone with a heart of gold! Hats off to Dennis!!!

Herbert W. Armstrong...strike that, KScribe!

According to the video, peeing while sitting down is what is wrong with America today. Mr. Anderson's sermon in the video clip reminded me of some of the mindless absurd statements made by "Gad's ministers" in WCG sermons from years ago.......WCG statements like, what do you do with a rebellious wife? You rape her!

The truth is, I pee while siting down because I'm getting old and tired and I have digenerative joint disease in my knees, and I enjoy the relief from getting off my feet.

I hope God will have mercy on me for being human peeing while sitting down. I didn't realize with all life's many other stresses and issues, I now have to worry about not peeing against the wall. That's a real pisser folks!

Ah, another example of the "tyranny of niceness".

I actually posted about that a bit ago. It's a way that people like Mahoron use to control people - if you can get them to stay within certain bounds of behavior, you're that much closer to winning.

Of course, you can visit armstrongsurvivor.com for a heady dose of how I feel about that. :-)

Give this pastor credit for one thing. He didn't use any of those big bad euphemisms.

I dared today to Biblically check what this preacher said.

The "P word" actually appears EIGHT times in KJV, not six -- two times without the "-eth" on the end.

Yes, NIV changes "men" to "males" in the six mentions to the -eth version. But the two noun forms are changed to "urine." And the Romans 1 passage condemning homosexuality uses "men" in NIV, not males.
